The effectiveness of a proposed strategy for Qur'an verses and its impact on the achievement of second grade female students in mathematics

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed strategy based on incorporating Qur’anic verses and its impact on the achievement of second-grade intermediate female students in mathematics. The researcher adopted the experimental method due to its suitability to the nature and objectives of the study. A true experimental design was employed, using two equivalent groups (experimental and control) with a post-test for achievement. The experimental group was taught according to the proposed strategy integrating Qur’anic verses into mathematics instruction, while the control group was taught using the conventional method. The study sample consisted of 54 students, divided into 29 in the experimental group and 25 in the control group. The findings revealed a statistically significant difference in the mean achievement scores between the experimental group, which was taught using the proposed Qur’an-based strategy, and the control group, which was taught using the traditional method, in favor of the experimental group. The study recommended that the Directorate of Education organize training courses for mathematics teachers under the supervision of faculty members from the University of Mosul specialized in teaching methods, in order to train teachers on modern instructional strategies and their practical implementation. The originality of this study lies in its introduction of an innovative strategy that integrates Qur’anic verses with mathematical concepts—an approach rarely found in educational literature. This contribution enriches mathematics teaching methods by offering a framework that combines cognitive and value-based dimensions, thereby enhancing students’ motivation and engagement in learning.
