The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing the Academic Performance of Faculty Members in Palestinian Universities

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the academic performance of Palestinian universities from the perspective of faculty members. The study population consisted of 1,200 faculty members from An-Najah National University and Khodori University – Tulkarm branch, with a sample of 110 faculty members. The descriptive-analytical approach was employed, and a questionnaire comprising 43 items was administered to the study sample. The results revealed that the role of artificial intelligence in improving the academic performance of Palestinian universities, from the viewpoint of faculty members, was rated as high. The ranking of domains was as follows: service performance came first, followed by academic performance in second place, and research performance in third place. The findings also indicated that the requirements for employing artificial intelligence to enhance academic performance were rated highly. Furthermore, statistically significant differences were found at the significance level in the mean responses of faculty members regarding the role of artificial intelligence and its employment requirements, attributed to gender (in favor of males) and years of service (in favor of more than 10 years). No significant differences were found with respect to academic rank. The originality of this research lies in being one of the first studies to address the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing academic performance in Palestinian universities from the perspective of faculty members, with a focus on multiple dimensions including service, academic, and research performance.
