The Crisis of the Palestinian Cultural Scene in the Era of Artificial Intelligence Dominance: Memory Guardians, Alternative Virtual Reality, and Brain Drain

Abstract

This study aims to deconstruct the crisis of the Palestinian cultural scene in the era of artificial intelligence dominance, and to trace the structural transformations that have affected the national narrative and the concept of "memory guardianship" under digital colonialism and brain drain. The study adopts a complex deconstructive-anthropological methodology, intertwining structuralist and semiotic theories with political and digital socio-critical analysis, to expose the complicity between algorithmic matrices and platform capitalism. The findings reveal that artificial intelligence functions as a tool for the "forced normalization of the Palestinian wound," performing a cyber-whitewashing of tragedy and transforming it into hyperreality and consumable folklore. Meanwhile, the title of "memory guardian" has degenerated into a mere narcissistic spectacle practiced by opportunists fleeing the labor of writing, within a "compatible neurosis" between user and machine. Accordingly, the study recommends achieving digital sovereignty by feeding algorithms with the complex Palestinian memory (urban and Bedouin), establishing a critical digital resistance, and taming technology to serve the living narrative rather than surrendering to "soft psychological domestication." The scientific originality of this study lies in its approach to artificial intelligence not merely as a technological tool, but as an ideological extension of settler colonialism; its highlighting of the repercussions of "brain drain" in leaving the digital arena to "borrowed pundits"; and its introduction of the concept of "equilibrism" as a methodology of resistance.
