Abstract

This study explores the Ramadan Lantern not merely as a seasonal folkloric artifact, but as a cosmic anthropological model embodying the dialectical relationship between the "Absolute" and the "created." The research aims to deconstruct the lantern's symbolic structure through the lens of structural anthropology and sacred geometry, revealing how the divine "Fire of Jalal" (Majesty), which eyes cannot comprehend, is transformed into an intimate "Light of Jamal" (Beauty) that guides through precise material and geometric mediation. The study employs an interdisciplinary methodology combining semiotic analysis of the symbol, theological hermeneutics of Islamic texts (particularly the Verse of Light), and anthropological comparison with fire narratives in other civilizations (Pharaonic, Greek, and Eastern). Results indicate that the lantern functions as a functional "geometric mediator" utilizing Pythagorean proportions and octagonal forms (inspired by the architecture of the Dome of the Rock) to tame the radiance. This reflects the law of "Concealment and Manifestation" (Al-Tawari wa Al-Tajalli) and establishes a visual identity linking collective memory to the Jerusalemites sacred space. The study recommends the urgent documentation of this intangible heritage, protecting it from commercial distortion, and integrating its symbolic dimensions into educational curricula to enhance awareness of Islamic civilizational identity. The research originality lies in connecting popular folkloric practices with Islamic theology (Kalam) and algorithmic geometry, unveiling the ontological dimension of colors and shapes in shaping religious consciousness.
